The Red Hook Initiative middle school program serves Red Hook youth ages 11-14 in middle school who are struggling, or would like to improve their grades. In this program we plan on offering fun academic based learning activities, as well as giving kids the opportunity to participate in other hands on programs.

January Update
Middle school programs that normally take place have been put on hold for a special Black History month play that the kids will be putting on. The name of the play is titled, "What If" and it was written by the kids with help from Nahisha (The Middle School program coordinator) on what would happen if famous black leaders would have met in their prime. Famous Blacks such as Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and Medgar Evers. The play will take place February 28th at P.S. 15. Other acts include a dinner roundtable with Frederick Douglass, George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington and Marcus Garvey, and the other play is on the Mirabal sisters and their relationship with well known dictator and ex ruler of Dominican Republic Rafael Trujillo. These three well known sisters fought and rebelled with others to end his dictatorship.
